Ondo PDP begins campaign for Jonathan

Despite the air of uncertainty surrounding the fate
of the candidates vying for positions in the National
Assembly and House of Assembly on the platform
of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State, the
two factions of the party have decided to conduct a
single campaign to ensure victory for President
Goodluck Jonathan.
Spokesperson for the Dr. Ogunye-led faction, Gani
Muhammed, told our correspondent that the crisis
had slowed down activities of the party ahead of
the 2015 general elections, and party members had
seen the need to come together to begin work to
ensure victory at the polls in February.
He said, “We cannot continue to allow the
disagreements to deprive us from doing
something. We have to start sensitizing the people
of the party’s aspirations, while efforts are ongoing
to resolve the problems within the party.”
He noted that the efforts resulted in the holding of
a rally at Idanre Local Government, where the party
tried to reach out to the people and similar
campaigns would be carried to other parts of the
state.
Muhammed however, noted that Governor
Olusegun Mimiko should be more practical in
resolving the issues rather than the-winner-takes-
all posture.
In the same vein, the Mimiko-led faction described
the Idanre campaign as a unity rally aimed at
bringing all party members together to ensure
victory for the PDP in the coming election.
Commissioner for Information, Kayode Akinmade,
said the two groups had decided to converge on a
single meeting in the efforts to win the general
election.
