Fayose Directs Disciplinary Committee To Try Late- Comer Civil Servants

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose has warned that civil servants who engage in late-coming and truancy may be shown the way out of service if they remain recalcitrant.

The Governor who was at the state Secretariat at 8:00am on dot, apprehended over 30 civil servants who came late and directed that disciplinary committee be set up to try them with
appropriate sanctions.

Many of the civil servants on
sighting the Governor scampered around to avoid being apprehended.

Meanwhile, the Governor has stated that
the unscheduled visit will continue until appropriate discipline has been entrenched in the civil service, saying he could be at the MDAs anytime.

He noted that if the government is working round the clock to ensure
the workers salary are paid as at when due in-spite of the economic downturn, the workers should reciprocate the gesture by being alive to their responsibilities.

The Head of Service, Dr. Olugbenga while reacting said several warnings, interface and memos have been issued on the need for civil servants to shun lateness and absenteeism.

He noted that it is time to enforce
strict adherence to the civil service rules saying workers have to sit tight and reciprocate the gesture of the
government which has made the salaries and allowances of workers a priority.

Obasanjo Is An Economic Illiterate, A liar; Says Wole Soyinka

Nobel Laurette, Prof Wole Soyinka has described former president, Olusegun Obasanjo as a liar and somebody
who should not be taken seriously and that he has no respect for him.

Soyinka said this yesterday, Friday August 28th, at an event organised by Telecommunication company,
Globacom, at the Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites, in his honour.

The event which was a gathering of the crime de la creme in the literary industry, was tagged “An Evening With Soyinka”.
Responding to a question from Kunle Ajibade on his response to Obasanjo’s judgment on him (Soyinka) recently as a political illiterate, Soyinka said that Obasanjo has a right to his opinion, stressing however that Obasanjo is a liar, as well as an ‘economic illiterate’.

“Obasanjo is entitled to his opinion. The question is ‘who can respect the opinion of a liar’? He is a liar and can prove that. He has been ‘described as an economic
illiterate.

His book My watch were full of lies. In fact, he began the book with a lie when he said that he deplores lies, and he repeated it several times. I’m not bothered when somebody like Obasanjo passes his opinion about me. I have no respect for Obasanjo. He is a liar.

I am writing a book titled Republic of Liars and Obasanjo has a prominent place in it. The book will be out soon.”
The event was a celebration of the renowned dramatist, poet, critic, activist and humanist. The event which was
also a celebration of young literary stars – Seffie Attach, Tope Folarin and E. C. Osundu – was marked with performances.

In attendance at the colourful event
include Profs. J. P. Clarke, Ebun Clarke, Akachi Ezeigbo, Duro Oni, Bode Sowande, General Alani Akinriade (retired), Mrs Francesca Emmanuel among others, and Hollywood star Richard More Damijo, who was the
compere.

MOURINHO BLAMES HIMSELF FOR CHELSEA DEFEAT

The Blues boss says he should have made changes during his side's shock defeat to Crystal Palace but feels that, on the whole, his team did not deserve to lose the game.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says he blames himself for the champions' 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The Blues slumped to their second Premier League loss of the season thanks to Joel Ward’s winner after Radamel Falcao had equalised Bakary Sako’s opener.

The result leaves Chelsea eight points behind Manchester City after just four games and Mourinho says he must take his share of the blame for the result.

"I cannot say I had 11 players at the same time performing. To be fair, two or three of them, individual performances were far from good,” he told reporters.

"I blame myself for not changing one of them, because I kept him in the game for 90 minutes.
When I made the third change, I realised I needed a fourth."

“If a player is not performing, there are two ways: trust the player and wait for improve, or... have to change. I can go both."

Mourinho did, however, take time out to praise Crystal Palace with Alan Pardew’s side having now taken nine points from their opening four games.

“The first thought is for Palace. They come with everything. Team ready, players ready, fans ready, fantastic spirit,” added the Chelsea boss.

“They were lucky, but they deserved a lot. I think we deserved more, but not deserved to win.
“Finally, the referee, with a big mistake, a clear penalty with the result at 0-0."

How To Fly Cross-Country Without Using Airports

It's no secret that crowded airports can
be a hassle and a giant time-suck for cross- country travelers. Soon, a workaround may be available for corporations and the ultra-rich.

The concept is this: You don't need an airport if you can land and take off from your own front yard.

Get ready for a burgeoning breed of commercial aircraft. They hover like helicopters and fly fast
and high like jets.

These vertical take off and landing planes --
VTOLs -- could pick up passengers at their homes or hotels, and fly them more than a thousand miles, directly to a private compound or the roof of a skyscraper.
Call it door-to-door cross-country air travel.
Businessmen Like Aliko Dangote, Bill Gate and others can now save airports landing time and land directly at the place of there appointment.

Alcoholism has been recorded as one of the serious social problems facing all countries in the world today. Which includes poverty, crime, business failure, broken homes and most importantly affects the health to the extent that it can cause impotence, sterility, cancer and even death.
Here are some of the reasons you shouldn't consume alcohol:

◆ Accident: A very large traffic/road accident has been related to alcohol consumption. This we should not folds our arms,  because it concerns everyone, those that drink and those that doesn't. Sometimes when an accident happened, not only those that drink alcohol are affected.

Yorubas Are The Problem With Nigeria says Sanusi Lamido Sanusi

The Yoruba political leadership, as mentioned by Balarabe Musa, has shown
itself over the years to be incapable of rising above narrow tribal interests and
reciprocating goodwill from other sections of the country by treating other
groups with respect. Practically every crisis in Nigeria since independence has
its roots in this attitude.
The Yoruba elite and area-boy politics;
Igbo marginalisation and the responsible limits of retribution; and
The Yoruba Factor and “Area-boy” Politics.
My views on the Yoruba political leadership have been thoroughly articulated in
some of my writings, prime among which was ” Afenifere: Syllabus of Errors”
published by This Day (The Sunday Newspaper) on Sept 27, 1998. There was
also an earlier publication in the weekly Trust entitled ” The Igbo, the Yoruba and
History” (Aug. 21, 1998).
In sum, the Yoruba political leadership, as mentioned by Balarabe Musa, has
shown itself over the years to be incapable of rising above narrow tribal interests
and reciprocating goodwill from other sections of the country by treating other
groups with respect. Practically every crisis in Nigeria since independence has
its roots in this attitude.
The Yoruba elite were the first, in 1962, to attempt a violent overthrow of an
elected government in this country. In 1966, it was the violence in the West
which provided an avenue for the putsch of 15th January. After Chief Awolowo
lost to Shagari in 1983 elections, it was the discontent and bad publicity in the
South-West which led to the Buhari intervention.
When Buhari jailed UPN governors like Ige and Onabanjo, the South-Western
press castigated that good government and provided the right mood for IBB to
take over power. As soon as IBB cleared UPN governors of charges against
them in a politically motivated retrial, he became the darling of the South-West.
When IBB annulled the primaries in which Adamu Ciroma and Shehu Yar Adua
emerged as presidential candidates in the NRC and SDP, he was hailed by the
South-West. When the same man annulled the June 12, 1993 elections in which
Abiola was the front-runner, the South-West now became defenders of
democracy.
When it seemed Sani Abacha was sympathetic to Abiola, the South-West
supported his take-over. He was in fact invited by a prominent NADECO member
to take over in a published letter shortly before the event. Even though Abiola
had won the elections in the North, the North was blamed for its annulment.
When Abdulsalam Abubakar started his transition, the Yoruba political leadership
through NADECO presented a memorandum on a Government of National Unity
that showed complete disrespect for the intelligence and liberties of other
Nigerians.
Subsequently, they formed a tribal party which failed to meet minimum
requirements for registration, but was registered all the same to avoid the
violence that was bound to follow non-registration, given the area-boy mentality
of South-West politicians. Having rejected an Obasanjo candidacy and
challenged the election as a fraud in court, we now find a leading member of the
AD in the government, a daughter of an Afenifere leader as Minister of State, and
Awolowo´s daughter as Ambassador, all appointed by a man who won the
election through fraud.
Meanwhile, nothing has been negotiated for the children of Abiola, the focus of
Yoruba political activity. In return for these favours, the AD solidly voted for Evan
Enwerem as Senate President. This is a man who participated in the two-
million- man March for Abacha´s self-succession. He also is reputed to have
hosted a meeting of governors during IBB´s transition, demanding that June 12
elections should never be de-annulled and threatening that the East would go to
war if this was done. When Ibrahim Salisu Buhari was accused of swearing to a
false affidavit, the Yoruba political elite correctly took up the gauntlet for his
resignation.
When an AD governor, Bola Tinubu, swears to a false affidavit that he attended
an Ivy League University which he did not attend, we hear excuses.
For so many years, the Yoruba have inundated this country with stories of being
marginalised and of a civil service dominated by northerners through quota
system. The Federal Character Commission has recently released a report which
shows that the South-West accounts for 27.8% of civil servants in the range
GL08 to GL14 and a full 29.5% of GL 15 and above. One zone out of six zones
controls a full 30% of the civil service leaving the other five zones to share the
remaining 70%. We find the same story in the economy, in academia, in
parastatals.
Yet in spite of being so dominant, the Yoruba complained and complained of
marginalization. Of recent, in recognition of the trauma which hit the South-West
after June 12, the rest of the country forced everyone out of the race to ensure
that a South-Westerner emerged, often against the best advice of political
activists.
Instead of leading a path of reconciliation and strong appreciation, the Yoruba
have embarked on short-sighted triumphalism, threatening other “nationalities”
that they ( who after all lost the election) will protect Obasanjo ( who was forced
on them). No less a person than Bola Ige has made such utterances.
To further show that they were in charge, they led a cult into the Hausa area of
Sagamu, murdered a Hausa woman and nothing happened. In the violence that
followed, they killed several Hausa residents, with Yoruba leaders like Segun
Osoba, reminding Nigerians of the need to respect the culture of their host
communities. This would have continued were it not for the people of Kano who
showed that they could also create their own Oro who would only be appeased
through the shedding of innocent Yoruba blood.
I say all this, to support Balarabe Musa´s statement, that the greatest problem to
nation-building in Nigeria are the Yoruba Bourgeoisie. I say this also to
underscore my point that until they change this attitude, no conference can
solve the problems of Nigeria. We cannot move forward if the leadership of one
of the largest ethnic groups continues to operate, not like statesmen, but like
common area boys.
iii.The Igbo Factor and the Reasonable Limits of Retribution.
The Igbo people of Nigeria have made a mark in the history of this nation. They
led the first successful military coup which eliminated the Military and Political
leaders of other regions while letting off Igbo leaders. Nwafor Orizu, then Senate
President, in consultation with President Azikiwe, subverted the constitution and
handed over power to Aguiyi-Ironsi. Subsequent developments, including
attempts at humiliating other peoples, led to the counter-coup and later the civil
war. The Igbos themselves must acknowledge that they have a large part of the
blame for shattering the unity of this country.
Having said that, this nation must realise that Igbos have more than paid for
their foolishness. They have been defeated in war, rendered paupers by
monetary policy fiat, their properties declared abandoned and confiscated, kept
out of strategic public sector appointments and deprived of public services. The
rest of the country forced them to remain in Nigeria and has continued to deny
them equity.
The Northern Bourgeoisie and the Yoruba Bourgeoisie have conspired to keep
the Igbo out of the scheme of things. In the recent transition when the Igbo
solidly supported the PDP in the hope of an Ekwueme presidency, the North and
South-West treated this as a Biafra agenda. Every rule set for the primaries,
every gentleman´s agreement was set aside to ensure that Obasanjo, not
Ekwueme emerged as the candidate. Things went as far as getting the Federal
Government to hurriedly gazette a pardon. Now, with this government, the
marginalistion of the Igbo is more complete than ever before. The Igbos have
taken all these quietly because, they reason, they brought it upon themselves.
But the nation is sitting on a time-bomb.
After the First World War, the victors treated Germany with the same contempt
Nigeria is treating Igbos. Two decades later, there was a Second World War, far
costlier than the first. Germany was again defeated, but this time, they won a
more honourable peace. Our present political leaders have no sense of History.
There is a new Igbo man, who was not born in 1966 and neither knows nor
cares about Nzeogwu and Ojukwu. There are Igbo men on the street who were
never Biafrans. They were born Nigerians, are Nigerians, but suffer because of
actions of earlier generations. They will soon decide that it is better to fight their
own war, and may be find an honourable peace, than to remain in this
contemptible state in perpetuity.
The Northern Bourgeoisie and the Yoruba Bourgeoisie have exacted their pound
of flesh from the Igbos. For one Sardauna, one Tafawa Balewa, one Akintola and
one Okotie-Eboh, hundreds of thousands have died and suffered.
If this issue is not addressed immediately, no conference will solve Nigeria´s
problems. By Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.

ARSENAL VICTORY; MY OBSERVATIONS

With their Victory against Chelsea in the FA Community Shield, majority of the Arsenal FC. families are optimistic that their team could win the English Premier League this season.

The fact remains that defeating Chelsea does not guarantee the League but broken an 11-year Jinx is a motivation.

Let's Check This Out:

Beginning of 2014/15 EPL Season
Community Shield
Arsenal 3 Man City 0
End of 2014/2015 EPL Season
Arsenal = 3rd Place
Beginning of 2015/16 EPL Season
Community Shield
Arsenal 1 Chelsea 0
End of 2015/16 EPL Season
Arsenal = ???
There's an additional player to their squad yet they defeated the Champions of England with lesser margin compared to the previous champions.

Another 'Simple Logic' to 'prove' that Arsenal fans might finally have a point:
Man City won the Capital One Cup and the Premier League in the 2013/14 Season; lost to Arsenal in the
2014/15 Community Shield, and ended the season TROPHY LESS...
Chelsea won the Capital One Cup and the Premier League in the 2014/15 Season, and lost to Arsenal in the 2015/16 Community Shield.
Therefore, CHELSEA Might end the season...??????

In conclusion, Arsenal won the 2014/15 Community shield and moved a step higher in the league as they claimed 3rd position against the usual 4th position.
They defeated Chelsea again in the same competition, this according to the logic may guarantee them another step forward or still claim the same spot of last season.

The League this season won't be easy and even the best football pundit of our generation can't be sure of it's destination.
The only certainty, is that the league will be won among Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City. Managers of these
clubs have a lot of jobs in their hands because this time it would be more than the players rather the best tactician among the genius coaches of the
mentioned Clubs.
Therefore, Claiming a club would win the league now is just a mere talk.

LAST SHOT............ Arsenal fans are as noisy as their Neighbor, we don't know this because they haven't been victorious for a while.

PRO. JEGA'S EPIC REPLY TO ORUBEBE

After PDP party agent Godsday Orubebe
created an embarrassing scene at the collation
centre in Abuja this morning, trying to disrupt
announcement of results (read here) a very
calm Jega told him;

“Mr Orubebe, you are a former
Minister of the Federal Republic
.You are a statesman in your
own right. You should be careful
about what you say or what
allegations or accusations you
make. Certainly you should be
careful about your public
conduct”

Jega’s response to Orubebe has been hailed
as mature and worthy of praise. In fact,
there’s a meaning for Jega now. ‘Jega’ –
meaning – ‘To be inexplicably chilled in the
midst of stupidity or conflict” . Prof Jega’s full
response.

“You have made two comments.
One is that you submitted a
petition which I refused to
accept. Secondly you claimed
that there was a result released
by the APC which you alleged
that we gave to them or I gave to
them. With regards to the first
point, yesterday after we took the
first batch of results in this hall
and as we declared a recess until
4pm, as I was walking down
back to the office, my PA came to
me and said that here are some
papers that Dr Bello Fadile, a
representative of the PDP said
that he should collect it; that I
said Dr Fadile should give him
those papers. I told him that I
didn’t tell Dr Fadile to give any
papers to you. Return them to
him because Dr Fadile, after we
declared for recess came on to
this platform. As a party agent,
he is not supposed to do that
and gave some documents to my
PA who is writing results here.
and I am sure some of the agents
and some of the pressmen may
have seen that and I told my PA
to take back those documents to
him. If he told you I told him to
give you any documents, I did
not. Take them back to him,
Subsequently, Dr Fadile sent me
a text message saying that there
are petitions and that he wants to
submit them. I told him we don’t
collect petitions on the platform
when we are declaring results
and then he said I should have
left my office open so that they
can submit those petitions in my
office. I told him our secretary,
the secretary to the commission
is not anywhere in this hall. She
is in her office and that her
business is to receive
communication. If they are
important enough, she would
bring them to me here. I have
started collation. I cannot be
receiving petition in this hall or in
this platform. And when I replied
that text message, he replied
again and said Okay, he will see
what he can do. I interpreted the
text as he was going to take that
petition or whatever document he
has to the secretary of the
commission. As I speak with you
now, I have not received anything
from the secretary to the
commission. That is regards to
the issue of the so called
petition.

Regarding results published by
APC on its website, I do not give
results to anybody. The results
were announced formally as INEC
are results declared here. And we
have warned everybody to be
careful and to ensure that the do
not declare results which we
have not officially announced. So
as far as I am concerned I have
not seen any results. I have not
given anybody any results. So
for you to even engage me on
that issue I think frankly that is
not fair to me. I have not seen
the results. How can I speak on
something that I have not seen.
So please let us be careful of
what we say or do so that we do
not disrupt a process that has
ended peacefully and in a matter
of hours we would be able to
finish it.”.

In terms of lawmakers’ salaries as a ratio of GDP
per capita, the gap is even much wider. While the
salary of a Nigerian lawmaker is 116 times the
country’s GDP per person, that of a British
member of parliament is just 2.7 times.
The average salary of Nigerian worker based on the
national minimum wage is N18,000.00, So, the
yearly salary is N18,000.00 x 12 = N216,000.00
($1,333.00)
Remember, Yearly Salary of Nigerian Senator =
$2,183,685.00.
Proportion: $2,183,685.00/$1,333.00 = 1,638
It will take an average Nigerian worker 1,638 years
to earn the yearly salary of a Nigerian Senator.

Militants Bomb Delta State Oil Pipeline

An Urhobo militant group, Urhobo Gbagbako, on
Friday claimed responsibility for Thursday night’s
bombing of the NPDC Oil pipelines at Ighrenene,
Afiesere and Ekiugbo communities in Delta State.
The group, which made the claims in an email sent
to some reporters, said it is also planning to shut
down all the oil fields in Urhobo and Isoko areas.
The email signed by the group’s s spokesperson,
Priest Omodjuvwu, said the bombing of the
Ekiugbo/Ighrenene/Afiesere was to draw attention
to the neglect of ex-militants of Urhobo extraction.
It said the Urhobo had been sidelined in the
pipelines protection contracts offered to ex-
militants from other ethnic groups and they now
want to show that they too had the capacity to
cause trouble if ignored.
The group said it had sent warning signals to the
NPDC and the federal government on the pipeline
surveillance contracts, which had excluded the
Urhobo.
Urhobo Gbagbako however dissociated itself from
media reports about a 14-day ultimatum given to
the federal government and NPDC on the oil
pipeline surveillance contracts.
“We have now resumed attack on the NPDC
pipeline facilities on a massive scale, which scale
of bombings shall be unprecedented,” the email
said.
The group said the attacks will continue until the
Urhobo got what rightly belonged to them.
It explained that Urhobo Gbagbako Group is a
militia group of all ex-militants, youths, women
and elders of Urhobo origin.

Asari Dokubo Issues A New Threat

Asari Dokubo, the former militant who promised to
unleash violence on the country if the incumbent
President Goodluck Jonathan failed in election, has
issued a new threat.
He promised to return “to the creeks” and blamed
the Yoruba and Hausa for working against Igbo
and Niger Deltans.
Dokubo said the election of General Muhammadu
Buhari as president “is a clear indication that the
country is not united” and blamed the Yoruba and
Hausa for cooperating to frustrate Jonathan, who
applauds from the Niger Delta region.
In a comment realesed by his spokesperson Rex
Ekiugbo Anighoro, Dokubo saud: “Nigerian union
clearly reinforces the fact of self determination and
that Nigeria remains a very divided and separated
entity whose claim to unity remains a fraud of
gargantuan proportion.
“The celebrated victory of Buhari is not the victory
of the people but victory of regional conspiracy
and supremacy. The voting Partern has clearly
shown that the Gambari North and the Yorubas are
United in the conquest of the Niger Deltans and the
Igbos of defunct Biafra with the middle belt now
used as pawns.
“The victory of Muhammadu Buhari is a historical
reminder that we are a conquered people who are
mere appendages existing at the pleasure of the
supremacist and the regional overlords.
“We remain a people separated by our ideologies
and interests, we are not integrated nor
reconciled.”
Former militant supposed that the elect
administration could endeavor to sabotage the
interest of the Niger Delta and called for a return to
the creeks.
He added: “The conditions that advanced the need
to embrace the creeks have been sadly re
energised, it is clear that a vicious government
who may maim and murder the voice of the so
called minorities may have just been birthed.
Indeed integration is nonexistent as regional gang
ups and supremacy is symbolic with this victory.
“While President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan enjoys
his moments and bask in the euphoria of a now
world renowned statesman having congratulated
Muhammadu Buhari his conqueror, we must
quickly remind that our struggle was never about
Jonathan nor about presidency.
“President Goodluck Jonathan was an
establishment beneficiary of our struggle, our
sweat and blood that many bled and died for, he
was never in the struggle and he can never wish
away our collective march forward for
statesmanship. Yes Indeed to an extent he was a
mitigating factor in self determination pursuit as
we went on sabbatical, this mitigation he seem to
have willingly repudiated.
“The days coming will be critical, we shall study
all the conditions and consult widely before
determining the way going forward for our
collective existence and survival as a people. The
days coming shall either drive the quest of
integration or further separate us.”
It should be noted that the fake tweet circulated
yesterday on the media. It stated that Asari
Dokubo acclaimed President Jonathan and said he
is a friend to any government, but later former
militant denied the such news, saying that he
would stay loyal to Jonathan.
