JOSE MOURINHO is set to become the first Premier League manager to be fined for keeping his mouth SHUT.

The Premier League are planning to write to
Mourinho to ask him why he did not talk to the
media before and after Chelsea's 1-1 draw with
Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Mourinho's vow of silence came after the FA
banned star striker Diego Costa for three matches
for stamping on Emre Can during the Blues' 1-0
Capital Cup semi-final victory over Liverpool eight
days ago.
The Portuguese coach was particularly angry at
Sky pundit Jamie Redknapp saying immediately
after the game that City boss Manuel Pellegrini
should take a DVD of the incident the next morning
to the FA to ensure he got banned for the match
on Saturday.
Mourinho refused to do interviews on the eve or
day of the game, contrary to section K of the
Premier League rules.
Although former Manchester United boss Sir Alex
Ferguson regularly snubbed the written media and
banned the BBC for seven years after it made
allegations against his son, Jason, in a 2004 TV
documentary, the specific new rules did not come
in until last season, following his retirement.
It is understood Mourinho was fully supportive of
their introduction, but now he looks set to be the
first boss to be punished under the crackdown.
Once Mourinho has responded tot he Premier
League's request for his observations, the matter is
due to be looked at by the Premier League board,
with a fine the likely outcome.
There is no suggestion what the amount might be
because there is no precedent for a manager being
punished for the offence.
It will come on top of the £25,000 rap from the FA
last month for his allegation that there was a
'campaign against Chelsea'.
